Computing is a really exciting field to study as it has so many jobs being created in the field which can be explored. Within this course students will study programming languages which may include Python, C#, C++ and Visual Basic, scripting languages such as powershell, batchfiles as well as HTML, CSS and Java script. You will also learn how to develop mobile app development and website development. In addition to these you will learn about Cyber security and networking types by looking at ethical hacking, server and storage types.
The course will give you a wholesome overview of the computing industry and allow you to further study computing or progress into employment or an apprenticeship.
To study on this programme you will need to have 5 GCSE's A* - C or 9 - 4 which include maths and English.
Students who study on this programme will have lecturers who will show theory and practical skills. Students will work on practical tasks, individual tasks, group tasks in lesson and also complete research activities to further their knowledge.
As part of this course students will complete a range of exams and coursework pieces in which lecturing staff will support them in this development.
Students who study this course should have already have achieved maths & English through GCSE or functional skills.
Students who study this course are not expected to gain a placement however if you would like to gain some work experience then this will be advantageous towards you building your knowledge of the computing sector.
Students who study on this course will also be expected to complete tasks outside of lesson to prepare for exams and practical pieces.

Computer Science is an exciting field to study as it gives you the knowledge to look at lots of different career pathways such as Software Developer, Network engineering, Cyber security analyst, data analyst and Website development to name a few.
Within the course students will develop a range of knowledge and skills of computer science to competently be able to develop, design and build programmes as well as problem solving and designing networks for business and everyday use.
Students will have experienced lecturers and access to great facilities to be able to study and enhance knowledge of this exciting field.

Students who study this programme will also have the opportunity to have guest speakers from industry come on site and be able to pass knowledge on and have the experience of building and developing applications as well as building Cyber security knowledge and practical skills.
